Zusammenfassung: | Libertarianism says that people's actions may be truly free but cannot be predicted by others or studied scientifically. Determinism says that all behavior is in principle predictable and that there is no such thing as free will. Libertarians and determinists agree that if one is right, the other must be wrong. Compatibilism, on the other hand, says that some acts may be both determined and free at the same time – depending on how you look at those acts. Compatibilism implies that the distinction between voluntary and involuntary behavior is useful and meaningful even while a scientific psychology is possible. |
