Zusammenfassung: | Sport is important to Scotland; it has given a lot to the world of sport, but Scotland needs to enable and capitalise upon the potential of sport to deliver non-sporting as well as sporting outcomes. The study of Scottish sport presented here provides an overview and structure of Scottish sport; a briefing on the evolution of sports policy and politics; an evidenced reflection upon elite sport, community sport, and school sport in Scotland before providing a summary of key challenges and opportunities. The chapter concludes by providing a summary with five key messages that need to be addressed if Scotland is going to add further substance to the claim of being a sporting nation in the 21st century. |
