Zusammenfassung:A century after their introduction to the global market, electric vehicles have achieved staggering growth in the past few years owing to their excellent features compared to the petrol and diesel engines in restricted environmental and economic aspects. In order to reduce CO2 emissions and global warming, most of the developed and developing countries recognized electric vehicles as an alternative to fossil fuel-driven vehicles. Research on electric vehicles and their energy storage systems is expanding around the world and all automobile companies are competing to present the best model for their customers. Supercapacitors, batteries, and their hybrids pave the way for the realization of improved versions of electric vehicles. A variety of supercapacitor designs are evolving to achieve maximum efficiency to drive electric vehicles by resolving their major limitations. However, substantial barriers have to be overcome for revolutionary achievements in the global market. The high investment cost, lack of facilities for charging, and low driving ranges still deter people from using electric vehicles. However, the scope for better electric vehicles is empowered by the support of progressing research.
