Zusammenfassung: | Early interventions can potentially broaden the participation of Latinx people in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Despite some recent growth trends, Latinx people, particularly women, earn less than 3% of engineering degrees (National Science Foundation, 2019). One of the most promising initiatives to address the problem of engineering underrepresentation is to broaden the opportunities to learn about engineering to K – 12. Early, relevant, and engaging opportunities to learn engineering might motivate members of underrepresented groups to gain interest in these fields.
Perspectives that frame members of underrepresented groups as deficient particularly affect students who attend underfunded, high-poverty urban |
