This includes maintenance, repair, heritage and retrofit. The execution of the survey is then discussed, including identifying the use of brick and an indicative survey methodology. Taking a conservation-based approach is integral to the work described in this chapter. A case study is provided relating to this. This chapter provides guidance on the types of survey and assessment that are likely to be undertaken to traditional brickwork. This includes maintenance, repair, heritage and retrofit. The chapter discusses the execution of the survey, including identifying the use of brick and an indicative survey methodology. It focuses on a conservation-based approach that is integral to the work. The chapter presents the results of survey and assessment, including the use of Building information modelling. It also presents a case study that discusses a survey of a terrace of four houses and a corner shop in the inner-city area of Sydney known as The Rocks, built in 1844 and adjacent to Sydney Harbour.
