Zusammenfassung: | Eccles has occasionally been mentioned in the wider archaeological literature, but the lack of easily accessible information has limited its value. For example, note the brief references that it receives in the recent book The Archaeology of Kent to AD 800 (Williams 2007). This project has attempted to remedy the situation: it has surveyed the records, described the salient points and highlighted the limitations and ambiguities of the evidence.
