Where does internationalization occur?

Chapter 3 asks the "where" question involving internationalization, mostly in terms of domestic libraries. Although where can also apply to overseas operations, as of now most libraries, including those in this study, are more concerned about academic library internationalization at the main campus. There are internal and external factors at work in terms of academic library internationalization which include issues of divisional alignment within the college: does the library reside in an academic or administrative division within the organizational structure? This chapter considers library missions, models, and administration and leadership through the lens of where. It also considers themes from the literature that involve where, including strategies, collaboration, brief consideration of overseas branches, and challenges.
