Zusammenfassung: | This chapter describes the reasons why an academic library should internationalize. It discusses justification in terms of mission, college priority, and social responsibility. Attention is focused on internationalization as a way for the library to demonstrate value and the co-dependent relationship it has with information literacy. While describing this relationship, a different perspective on information literacy is illustrated that aligns better with internationalization. Information literacy is often associated with learning objectives addressed in library instruction, but this chapter invites readers to think of it as a process that leads to individual state of mind. Additionally, a distinction is made between information literacy and information fluency that is relevant to internationalization at a college. |
