Zusammenfassung:Water scarcity is one of the main causes for improving wastewater quality before discharging it into the atmosphere. The primary aim of treating wastewater is the elimination of solids, organic substances, and nutrients from effluent. The traditional treatment methods include physical, chemical and biological methods. Recent technologies involved for treating wastewater are considered inefficient in complete elimination of organic matter. The organic substances/compounds show resistance towards traditional treatment approaches in various cases, thereby increasing the need for tertiary treatment. Advanced oxidation process (AOP) is a potential treatment method for wastewater management. AOP use hydroxyl (·OH) radicals to mineralize organic substances completely into CO 2 and H 2 O. This chapter outlines different advanced oxidation methods commonly utilized for the water as well as wastewater remediation.
