This chapter is designed to help you appreciate the importance of staying up to date in the health and social care field in which you work. It also wants you to consider your own career ambitions and how you might develop to go into other areas of the health and social care sector and appreciate potential for promotion within or beyond the field of support work. The chapter discusses benefits of CPD activity to the workers and their clients. The benefits include, clients may receive an improved caring experience, fewer complaints, education and training can build confidence to question practice that does not benefit the client. At the time of writing this book, owing to the Covid pandemic, many students have been engaging in teaching and learning remotely, from home. It explains how the workers learn as adults differs from when they learned as children in school. Courses in health, social care and medicine are mostly found in the sector of higher education, although there can be some exceptions.
