Chemical Analysis Basics

This chapter provides a some fundamental knowledge chemical analysis, primarily for practitioners in fields outside of research in analytical chemistry. It also provides the major instrumental methods of chemical analysis. Please note that these paragraphs are general and are not meant to convey a comprehensive knowledge on these topics. A separation method in which the sample or solute is vaporized and passed through a medium under the influence of a carrier gas. A separation method in which a sample or solute is passed through a medium under the influence of a carrier liquid. The medium is called the stationary phase, in contrast to the carrier, which is the mobile phase. A separation method in which a stationary phase coated on a sheet of plastic, aluminum, or glass is used with a mobile phase usually consisting of a solvent or mixture of solvents in a beaker.
