Zusammenfassung: | To understand how mental health issues may contribute to challenges in behaviour management in classrooms.
To develop awareness as to how teachers can support pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
To consider strategies to look after your own mental health.
This chapter aims to understand how mental health issues may contribute to challenges in behaviour management in classrooms and describes awareness as to how teachers can support pupils both inside and outside the classroom and considers strategies to look after students' own mental health. A further concern is when pupils may become anxious, more introvert and potentially isolated. This can sometimes make attendance to lessons a challenge and can be difficult if students are trying to direct pupils to work collaboratively. Pupils may have experienced negative and distressing life events that have brought about a temporary change in their behaviour and has affected their mental health. Training may be given as part of students' school induction or they should know who to go to so that the best support can be given to pupils with the issues; knowledge of when and where to signpost pupils to or to recommend specific interventions or other support to pupils. |
