Zusammenfassung: | This chapter presents methodology that allows determination of the uncertainty associated with the use of the regression due to the uncertainties in the data upon which the regression is based. The basic concept for determining the uncertainty of a regression expression is to use the regression equation as a data reduction equation (DRE) in either the Monte Carlo method (MCM) or Taylor series method (TSM) approaches to determine the uncertainty in using the regression. The chapter shows these methodologies. An example of using the MCM to estimate the uncertainty associated with use of a first‐order regression is also presented. The chapter then discusses the application of the TSM regression uncertainty methodology to the calibration of a pressure transducer, which was then used in the calibration of a venturi flowmeter, which was subsequently used to determine water flow rate in a test. |
