Basics in R

This chapter introduces the basic linguistic features of Mac version of R (e.g., storing variables, creating datasets, executing functions, customizing through arguments). The best way to understand R is to learn its programming as a language. R can seem intimidating at first when researcher do not understand the patterns behind how it runs tests, stores data, and recalls information. Learning the language of R will allow students to effectively work through problems and not worry about the programming aspect of the statistical platform. The given tutorials are built to show a variety of approaches to using R, so the student can find their own unique style in working with statistical software, as well as to enrich the student learning experience through exposure to more and varied examples.
