Zusammenfassung:The International Commission of Radiological Protection (ICRP) is the most important International Organization for issuing recommendations for the protection of the patients, the radiation workers, and the public against unnecessary exposure to ionizing radiation. ICRP has official relationships with various other bodies such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and many other international agencies. The regulatory authorities of many of the IAEA member states adopt basic safety standards (BSS) and bring out their own radiation safety regulations. Occupational exposure is radiation exposure of radiation workers as a result of their occupation. Public exposure refers to the exposure incurred by the public as a result of radiation activities in the society. Of course, the social and economic factors play an important role and must be taken into account in optimization. The dose limit for the public is related to the individual and should not be exceeded from all the sources and practices permitted in society.
