Zusammenfassung: | This chapter discusses the gas transport properties of the polycondensation materials with side groups. Polycondensation materials can be divided into different types depending on the functional groups present, such as polyimides, polyarylenethers, polyamides etc. The chapter also discusses the synthesis of these polymers with bulky side groups and the gas transport properties of these polymers. It shows that similar structure–property behavior is observed for a much broader class of polymers. The advantages of two‐step polymerization method over the one‐step polymerization is the use of less toxic solvents and direct processing of the soluble poly(amic acid)s to form the final polyimide products in the form of films or fibers by thermal imidization. The chapter discusses a detail description of thermal imidization and chemical imidization. Poly (arylene ether)s (PAEs) are generally synthesized via nucleophilic aromatic substitution of an activated dihalide with an aromatic diphenol. |
