Zusammenfassung:	On the afternoon of November 14, 1993, the so-called People’s Day of Mourning (Volkstrauertag), the Central Commemorative Site of the Federal Republic of Germany (Zentrale Gedenkstätte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland) was unveiled in the modest, neoclassical building originally designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, called the Neue Wache, or “New Watch.” President Richard von Weizsäcker, Chancellor Helmut Kohl, Bundestag President Rita Süssmuth, Bundesrat Vice President Henning Voscherau, and Constitutional Court President Roman Herzog entered the building and laid five wreaths at the base of the statue, which bears the inscription “To the Victims of War and Tyranny” (Den Opfern von Krieg und
