Zusammenfassung:The previous chapter detailed the support for working mothers' rights in Libyan legislation, but also described the discrepancies between Libyan and international law. The aim of this chapter is to examine the extent to which those rights that exist in Libyan law and policy to protect the rights of working mothers are enjoyed in practice. In order to achieve this aim, interviews were conducted with working mothers from the most common fields of work in Libya in both the public and the private sectors. This method of data collection was one of the four steps to be taken (as outlined in Chapter 1) to find answers to the questions that underpin this volume. Empirical data of this sort is valuable because it enables an exploration of what is actually occurring 'on the ground'.
