Emerging Technology and Evaluation in International Development

This chapter presents a high-level overview of the emerging technologies that can be harnessed by evaluators in data collection and data analysis. Both the promises (what they can be used for) and the perils (the cautions or drawbacks of each technology) are discussed. Examples from practice are provided for some of the key technologies that evaluators are currently using. The basic descriptions of the technologies and how they can (and cannot) be used by evaluators will help the reader to interpret the other chapters in this book.
