Zusammenfassung: | This chapter is dedicated to Siegfried Kracauer's approach to societal spaces. It attempts to apply his perspectives on space and marginalization to discourses of inclusion and exclusion in education. After a biographical introduction into Kracauer's work and his time, his developments of analyzing space, including his contribution to what might be termed as an early "visual turn", are described. Finally, the chapter explores how his approach to the spatiality of social life might be fruitful for a reconstructive analysis of inclusion and exclusion in educational organizations. Here, special attention is paid to Kracauer's contribution to artifact analysis and the analysis of mass ornaments. |
