The civil war has caused the displacement of over 6.6 million Syrians since 2011. 5.6 million of them have been hosted by neighboring countries like Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt (UNHCR, 2021). Turkey has the largest population, with 3.7 million Syrian refugees who mostly (98%) live in rural and urban areas (Ministry of Interior, 2022).
