Story as Clarifier

Makerspaces have become a common feature in many libraries today. Books, both fiction and nonfiction, are key components of any makerspace. Makerspaces are an essential part of a school library because they intimately connect a student's passion to literature. Explore inquiry together and honor individual journeys through story. Children can begin to feel empowered and confident in their growing ability to control their own learning decisions with support from their peers. In addition, time spent developing personal connections with individual students supports growth in their identity as a valued member in their classroom learning community.
