Zusammenfassung:This chapter provides a range of scenarios of community planning covering some common development situations. Each illustrates one way in which methods can be combined in an overall strategy. Community centre applies to the design and construction of any building for community use. Congestion charging schemes are always controversial because of fears that they disrupt lifelong habits and harm business. Derelict site re-use shows an initiative to make use of a derelict area of land in public ownership. Such land exists everywhere, usually attracting rubbish and having a depressing effect on the local neighbourhood. Disaster management applies particularly to communities facing the threat of natural or human-made disasters such as floods, earthquakes, wind storms and industrial accidents. Participatory community-level disaster management involves a cross-section of people and interests in researching, planning and implementing projects. Energy saving and generation shows how a community can start planning to reduce its consumption of energy.
