AIMMS® for Scheduling of Chemical Plants

In its most general form, scheduling is a decision-making activity within the manufacturing and service industries. A scheduler tries to allocate resources ef’ciently to process tasks over a given time. Each task requires a certain amount of resources at a speci’ed time instant, often denoted as processing time. The resources may be processing equipment in a chemical plant, but they could be just as well runways at airports or crews at construction sites. Tasks may be the operations performed in the chemical facility, but they could also be takeoffs and landings at an airport or the activities in a construction project.
