Zusammenfassung:The Motul de San José Archaeological Project has tested a number of models of the economic and political integration of the Motul de San José polity through multidisciplinary investigations at this center and surrounding sites. In designing a regional investigation program, the project adopted an explicitly heterarchical perspective, utilizing multidisciplinary research to explore which aspects of intersite relationships were hierarchical and which were unranked, and how these shifted through time (Foias 1998, 2003; Hahn et al. 2003; Moriarty 2004b).
