Chemistry of Colloidal Silicates and Cements [and Discussion]

Zusammenfassung:During the hydration of cement, colloidal particles are formed in the aqueous environment between the aggregate units. Their subsequent behaviour depends on the chemical nature of the particles and the additives present in the system. A review is given of the properties of colloidal particles likely to be present in the cement paste and the manner in which their properties are likely to influence the ultimate behaviour of the material.
