Zusammenfassung: | The relation between plant type and yield was studied in valencia x spanish, valencia x virginia bunch and valencia x virginia spreading crosses of groundnut. The plant spread (diameter) accounted more variation in yield as compared to plant height. The frequency of highest yielding plants was maximum in the semispreading (30-50 cm) group and in valencia x spanish crosses. Recovery was less and progress could be slow in spreading forms and in combinations with them. Plant type in terms of plant height and spread (diameter) accounted 26% of the total variation in yield and factors other than these need to be examined to get a fuller understanding of groundnut yields |
