Zusammenfassung: | The accepted definitions of availability used for fuel-fired and nuclear generating units are not wholly appropriate for solar and wind generating units. Certain changes are suggested, and a set of availability definitions better suited to such units is proposed for discussion. These define availability of the energy resource and of weather suitable for operation separately from availability of the equipment. Overall availability is then taken as the product of these two factors. |
