Synthesis of Melithasterol A, a 5α,6α-Epoxy-7α-hydroxy Δ8-Steroid

A short, first synthesis of melithasterol A (3) utilizing microwave irradiation-induced isomerization of 5α,8α-epidioxy steroid (1) as the key step has been achieved in 80% yield.
