tmen has been determined; the crystals are orthorhombic, space group Pbcn, cell dimensions a = 18.817(2) Å, b = 13.886(3) Å, c = 12.567(3) Å, Z = 4, R = 0.0758 for 773 unique observed reflections. The corresponding data for Cd(C

H
9
O
2
)
2
bpy are orthorhombic, space group Pbca, cell dimensions a = 20.338(4) Å, b = 30.473(5) Å, c = 9.316(2) Å, Z = 8, R = 0.0457 for 2623 unique observed reflections. Both molecules have MO
4
N
2
