Zusammenfassung: | Studies in salt marsh vegetation were conducted in the inner part of the Helgoland Bight. At seven sites, along transects from the sea front to dike, phytosociological investigations were carried out. The various vegetation zones were instrumentally levelled and related to mean sea level (NN = NAP) in order to establish their correlation with the average high tide level. Finally, the modern vegetation zones are compared with corresponding prehistoric fossil assemblages. |
