Permanency of chromosome scaffold during meiosis of grasshopper Acrida turrita

In order to demonstrate the presence of chromosome scaffold, the meiotic chromosomes from the spermatocytes of grasshopper, Acrida turrita were subjected to silver-staining procedures preceeded by three well-known techniques. The scaffold can be demonstrated by all the three procedures in all the stages of meiosis with variable clarity. Thus, the scaffold may be considered as a permanent structure of the chromosomes.
