Zusammenfassung:This communication reviews previous investigations of chlorinated hydrocarbon combustion under sooting conditions. The first category of discussion is incipient soot formation, including experimental and modeling studies. This is followed by two sections on sooting flames, one with chlorinated hydrocarbons as additives to hydrocarbon fuels. and one with chlorinated hydrocarbons as the main fuel. The fourth section is soot formation under non-flame conditions. This includes soot formation in shock tubes, flow reactors, and Knudsen cells. The paper concludes with a discussion on studies concerning the modeling of sootingflames.
