Correlation between measurements and computer evaluations of corona losses in power transmission lines

The paper first reports the results of a series of test measurements for determining corona active-power losses in an existing transmission line in operation. The line operates in an area in which the climatic conditions are severe, with extremely high humidity levels. From test results and extensive computer simulation, the paper then develops a corona loss model with parameters which are applicable to any environment similar to that encountered by the transmission line. Very close correlation between the test results and those predicted by the model is achieved.
