Zusammenfassung: | Part 1, of two parts, introduced the fundamental concepts of measurement information and the need for a qualitative theory, examining information theory, measurement theory and their relationship to meaning
[1][Cropley, D.H. 1998, `Formulating a semiotic theory of measurement information – Part 1. Fundamental concepts and measurement theory', Measurement, vol. xx, no. aa, pp. xx–yy]. The present paper examines the role of semiotics in the establishment of a qualitative theory of measurement information, as well as the contributions of other, more diverse fields, such as cognitive psychology. This part culminates in a semiotic theory of measurement information which attempts to bring together relevant elements of the range of qualitative disciplines into a single framework for the study of measurement information. |
