Hypersonic Flow Control Using Upstream Focused Energy Deposition

A parametric study of the effect of energy deposition rate at a point upstream of a hypersonic blunt body on the blunt-body flowfield is presented. It is shown that the wave drag is reduced up to 50%, depending on the location of the deposition point.
