Zusammenfassung: | The marine engineering development strategy for the Royal Navy was endorsed in 1996 and formulated a road-map to achieve life-cycle cost savings in future warships whilst maintaining operational capability. Since then development work has focused on de-risking
the 'Electric Ship' concept so that the technologies are available for use in future warships. This paper reviews progress to date and then discusses how the strategy is likely to change in the future. Potential future technologies are also assessed. |
