Zusammenfassung: | The convergence of voice and data on the multiservice core allows virtually anyone to create communications services and offer them through a Web page over public networks. Session initiation protocol (SIP) phone users may launch new services in SIP messages. The traditional domain of service creation by the service provider for voice traffic networks is opening up to third parties. This creates a host of challenges for service creation tool sets to support this new paradigm of service authoring. This paper presents these challenges and remedies as addressed by a third-party programmable, service-mediation-enabled feature server. It provides a third-party programmable service authoring and service logic execution environment, which supports the deployment of innovative multiservice features while resolving feature interactions and integration into existing operations, administration, maintenance, and provisioning (OAM&P) elements. It leverages the Java ∗ Telephony API (JTAPI)-based Lucent Technologies Full Circle™ application programming interfaces (APIs), Java APIs for Integrated Networks (JAIN ∗ )/Parlay, SIP, and Extensible Markup Language (XML) to maximize flexibility in integrating new services across multiple servers in the packet network. |
