Carmen and Ernesto

In order to enable people’s struggles and intimate feelings to be alluded to, and stories that pervade danzón practitioners’ lives to be told that would otherwise be absent, short, experimentally written vignettes are interwoven between the more conventionally written chapters of the book: most are ethnographic fiction. Vignette 6 alludes to the awkwardness and violence of Carmen and Ernesto’s romance, despite public appearances.
