Dissociation energy of the hydrogen molecule
The threshold value of the dissociation limit of H2(B-prime 1Sigma(+)u) = H(1s)+H(2s) is determined at 118,377.06 +/- 0.04/cm by means of fluorescence-excitation spectroscopy at about 84.5 nm. The value of D0(H2) is compared to theoretically computed values that account for nonadiabatic, relativisti...

Zusammenfassung: | The threshold value of the dissociation limit of H2(B-prime 1Sigma(+)u) = H(1s)+H(2s) is determined at 118,377.06 +/- 0.04/cm by means of fluorescence-excitation spectroscopy at about 84.5 nm. The value of D0(H2) is compared to theoretically computed values that account for nonadiabatic, relativistic, and radiative considerations. The experimental and theoretical values of D0(H2) are in agreement, and when combined with calculations of the ionization energy of H2m the value for D0(H2(+)) is shown to agree with the theoretically predicted value.
