Continuum damping of high-mode-number toroidal Alfvén waves

An asymptotic theory is developed to determine the continuum damping of short-wavelength toroidal Alfven eigenmodes, which is essential for ascertaining thresholds for alpha-particle-driven instability in ignited tokamaks.
