Zusammenfassung:	The majority of the Cr is divalent (Cr sup 2 sup + ) under these conditions and Cr sup 2 sup + /Cr sup 3 sup + ratios at given constant O sub 2 pressures decrease with increasing basicity of the melts, expressed as CaO/SiO sub 2 ratios. In addition, Cr sup 2 sup + /Cr sup 3 sup + ratios, at a given CaO/SiO sub 2 ratio, are relatively unaffected by the amount of Al sub 2 O sub 3 present.
