Zusammenfassung:	The alkali metal niobium disulfides exhibit many interesting properties such as ionic/electronic conductivity and superconductivity. Most of the structural characterizations of these compounds have been carried out using powder diffraction and no data have been obtained for anhydrous single crystals. Single crystals of lithium and sodium niobium disulfides have been prepared by the crystallization from the binary alkali metal sulfide melt. Structure elucidation of the hexagonal platelets yielded crystal structures in the spacegroup P6[sub 3]/mmc with NbS[sub 2] layers, separated by intercalated alkali metals.
