Zusammenfassung:The CaBH{sub 4} and SrBH{sub 4} free radicals were synthesized by the reaction of Ca or Sr vapor with diborane, B{sub 2}H{sub 6}. The {tilde A}{sup 2}A{sub 1}-{tilde X}{sup 2}A{sub 1} and {tilde B}{sup 2}E-X{sup 2}A{sub 1} electronic transitions were detected by laser-induced fluorescence. The spectra are consistent with tridentate molecular structures with three bridging hydrogens and C{sub 3v} symmetry.
