Zusammenfassung:High-spin states in the neutron-deficient [sup 113]I nucleus have been investigated for the first time using the [sup 58]Ni([sup 58]Ni,3[ital p][gamma]) reaction. Gamma-ray coincidence data were acquired with the Eurogam spectrometer in conjunction with the Daresbury recoil mass separator. A deformed intruder band has been established extending to a spin approaching 40[h bar] and excitation energy 30 MeV. A possible structure for the band is discussed. This is the first evidence for such a band in this mass region with [ital Z][gt]51.
