Stochastic truncation approach to the Z sub 2 gauge model in 3+1 dimensions

The stochastic truncation method has been used to calculate the ground-state energy per site, its derivative, and the string tension for the {ital Z}{sub 2} gauge model in 3+1 dimensions. The first-order transition at the self-dual point is clearly seen, and the latent heat is estimated, together wi...

Zusammenfassung:The stochastic truncation method has been used to calculate the ground-state energy per site, its derivative, and the string tension for the {ital Z}{sub 2} gauge model in 3+1 dimensions. The first-order transition at the self-dual point is clearly seen, and the latent heat is estimated, together with the discontinuity in the string tension. The prospects for further applications of this method seem good.
