Zusammenfassung: | During the past 4-decades, China has been on an upward spiraling trend of social and economic modernization, reaching a very fast pace in the last 10 years. Industrial and economic development has been occurring so fast that a severe imbalance in the available water supply, water use, and wastewater treatment has occurred in many areas. Far more attention is now being paid to finding solutions for environmental pollution throughout China, particularly in water-short metropolitan regions such as the capital city of Beijing. These problems have prompted Chinese scientists to seek innovative, energy efficient, low-cost technology that may solve China's more acute environmental problems. |
