Zusammenfassung: | Because of concern about possible future environmental contamination in the vicinity of Bahia Blanca, as a result of the construction of a large petrochemical industry complex adjacent to a fossil-fuel power station, a study was carried out on spatial and seasonal variations in the pH value of atmospheric precipitation in the area before the industries began full-scale operation. The results showed that the precipitation tended to be alkaline; the mean pH value of rain water in the area was in the range 6.5-7.2, with lowest values occurring in winter as a result of sea spray. |
