Zusammenfassung: | Atom probe field-ion microscopy was used to determine the oxygen distribution in a titanium aluminide, TiAl, alloy with a lamellar structure. It is shown that the alpha 2 phase is much more enriched in O than the gamma phase. This is in agreement with a proposal that the second phase, alpha 2, acts as an O scavenger, decreases the O content in the gamma phase and improves the ductility of the gamma phase. |
