Zusammenfassung: | When a plan was initiated to utilize a helicopter to perform work on an energized, high voltage DC transmission line by bonding the helicopter to the conductor, it was necessary to determine what effect, if any, the helicopter would have on the DC fields and ions. In addition, it was necessary to determine the possible effect on helicopter instrumentation and communications. A test site and research facility at Lundar, Manitoba, Canada, provided the ideal location for making these tests. As a result, the information obtained determined that a helicopter-airborne platform could safely be used to perform the work.< > |
